This study aimed to determine the effect of the SudoMath Game-Based Learning
Approach on the numeracy skills of Grade 4 pupils at a selected elementary school in
Ozamiz City during the School Year 2025–2026. A classroom-based action research design
using a single-group pretest–posttest approach was employed. The respondents of the study
consisted of forty-two (42) Grade 4 pupils selected through purposive sampling. Data were
collected using a researcher-made Numeracy Skills Test administered before and after the
implementation of the SudoMath Game-Based Learning Approach. The research
instrument was validated by education experts and tested for reliability, yielding an
acceptable Cronbach’s alpha value. Data were analyzed using mean, standard deviation,
and paired t-test through Jamovi. Findings revealed that the numeracy skills of Grade 4
pupils before the implementation of the intervention were categorized as Did Not Meet
Expectations, while after the implementation, pupils’ performance improved to the
Satisfactory level. Statistical analysis further revealed a very highly significant difference
in the numeracy skills of Grade 4 pupils before and after the implementation of the
SudoMath Game-Based Learning Approach. The study concluded that the SudoMath
Game-Based Learning Approach is an effective instructional strategy in enhancing the
numeracy skills of Grade 4 pupils through interactive and engaging mathematical
activities. - Keywords
