- Abstract
- Investment decisions are often viewed as the chance to be successful as investors determine to put their assets in different financial markets. This study determined the impact of personality traits and risk tolerance on investment decisions among public and private teachers and aims to know if the teachers in Ozamiz City will go for investment with the presence of different personality traits and risk tolerance factors that could greatly affect their decisions. It was conducted in Ozamiz City province of Misamis Occidental among randomly selected 120 private and public teachers. This study employed a descriptive and inferential research design of the quantitative study. In gathering the data, the researchers used the adapted personality traits, risk tolerance, and investment decisions questionnaire. Mean, Frequencies and Standard Deviation, Pearson correlation, and Multiple Regression Analysis were the statistical tools used. The quantitative study revealed that risk tolerance is more strongly associated with investment decisions. However, the level of risk tolerance revealed that private teachers are more risk-takers regarding investment decisions. Besides, most private teachers scored high on the assessment level of investment decisions. Lastly, public institutions have an impact on personality traits and risk tolerance in investment decisions in Ozamiz City. Therefore, the findings were consistent with the proposed hypotheses Furthermore, there is a significant and positive association between the two factors, indicating that the more risk-tolerant a teacher is, the riskier investment decision the private and public teachers will make. Therefore, the study recommends that teachers be encouraged to engage in business to generate more ideas and income to support the investment aspect.
