- Abstract
- The business enterprise, comprising convenience stores, requires multiple shifts for operational functionality. The research investigated the substantial correlation between the managerial skills of convenience store owners and their leadership roles concerning business performance. This study applied a descriptive-correlational design. One hundred twenty-two convenience store owners were selected using convenience sampling methods. The study was conducted at Ozamiz City. Management skills, leadership roles, and business performance were assessed using questionnaires as data collection methods. Data analysis used were Mean, Standard Deviation, Spearman's Rho Correlation Coefficient, and Multivariate Regression Analysis. The findings indicate that the proficiency in managerial skills and leadership roles among convenience store owners is exceptionally high, with technical capabilities also being elevated. The findings indicated a positive correlation between managerial skills and business performance, as well as between leadership roles and business performance. The research revealed four key predictors for business performance: managerial skills, leadership roles, decision-making abilities, and sales and marketing operations. Consequently, convenience store owners possess a strong understanding of managing a business efficiently and successfully throughout time despite encountering various problems. Convenience store owners are advised to improve their managerial competencies via training programs, implement transformational leadership methodologies, and establish a framework for monitoring their actions, employee performance, and business processes to ensure long-term success. Future research could investigate the qualitative dimensions of management practices in greater depth. Thus, convenience store owners have a good grasp on running a business efficiently and effectively in the long run despite facing numerous challenges along the way. It is recommended that convenience store owners enhance their managerial skills through training programs, adopt transformational leadership practices, and set up a framework for monitoring their actions, employees' actions, and their business processes for long-term success, while future studies could explore deeper qualitative aspects of management practices.
