- Abstract
- Small and medium-sized enterprises (SME’s) were recognized globally as essential contributors to economic growth and job creation, particularly in the globalized and competitive corporate landscape of the twenty-first century. This study explored how entrepreneurs perceived external environmental factors in relation to entrepreneurial engagement. This study utilized a descriptive-correlational research design, conducted in Ozamiz City with 278 chosen respondents using purposive sampling. Perceived External Environmental Factors and Entrepreneurial Engagement Questionnaires were used as instruments in collecting the data. Mean, Standard Deviation, and Pearson Product Moment Correlation Coefficient were used as data analyses. The results revealed that SME’S’s entrepreneurs' level of perceived external environmental factors was very high while SME’s entrepreneurs' level of entrepreneurial engagement produced a very high result as well SME’s entrepreneurs' perceived external environmental factors postulates a highly significant result in their entrepreneurial engagement. The findings revealed that entrepreneurs actively engaged in their business operation, despite perceiving the challenging factors associated with environmental factors. However, when entrepreneurs perceived carefully the external factors, they become more attuned with their strategies to effectively tailor the regulatory requirements. Thus, SME’s entrepreneurs perceived external environmental factors as important parameters before engaging with entrepreneurial ventures. In this vein, SME’s entrepreneurs may determine the specific external environmental factors that are essential or critical to their business operations.
