- Abstract
- Finance has been a significant factor in the economy in recent years and serves as a method to achieve financial stability in a world where individuals can reserve a part of their money for future. This study explored the significant relationship between senior high school students’ saving goals, financial management skills and behavior. This study utilized a descriptive-correlational design. It was conducted in Senior High School students in selected schools in Misamis Occidental. Moreover, 362 senior high school students were selected as respondents through stratified systematic sampling technique. Saving Goals, Financial Management Skills and Financial Behavior Questionnaires were used in gathering data. Results show that most senior high school students were female rather than male. The results also show that senior high school students were interested in various disciplines, most of them choosing STEM. This high rate shows that many students were interested in careers related to science and mathematics. On the other hand, GAS has the lowest number, which means that people are less interested in it or prefer the more specialized academic paths available in other strands. Subsequently, financial management skills were found to have a positive significant relationship with financial behavior among senior high school students. Conclusively, senior high school students in Misamis Occidental largely adhere to the ideal age range, with females being more dominant than males. The researchers recommend investigating how parental income is associated with students' financial knowledge, attitudes, and behaviors.
