Amid the numerous obstacles that may arise in successfully using digital resources
to improve student learning, teachers have a vital role in incorporating technology into their
teaching. This study examined how teachers use video-based instructional resources in
relation to student participation and academic achievement. It was conducted in a public
university in the Municipality of Dumingag, Zamboanga del Sur. A descriptivecorrelational design was used in the study. There were 140 Bachelor of Secondary
Education students major in English were chosen as respondents identified through
stratified random sampling. Researcher-made questionnaires were used in gathering the
data. Documentary analysis was used to assess the respondents' academic performance.
Mean, Standard Deviation, and Pearson Product-Moment Correlation Coefficient were
used in analyzing the data gathered. Teachers' utilization of video-based teaching resources
was mostly in the areas of technological proficiency, pedagogical approaches, and
instructional support. The students were highly engaged in cognitive, behavioral, and
emotional aspects, and generally outstanding academically. The use of video-based
resources by instructors was strongly correlated with student engagement but not in
academic performance. The findings emphasize the significance of incorporating videobased teaching to boost student participation in class. It is recommended for teachers to
use innovative teaching materials to ensure increased engagement among students. - Keywords
