- Abstract
- Financial literacy is essential for young individuals to make wise investment decisions and avoid fraud as online financial activities increase in popularity. This study examined how financial education influenced working young adults’ investment behavior and scam awareness in Ozamiz City, Philippines, who were engaged in online betting games. A descriptive-correlational design was used in this study, and 274 people were surveyed using a snowball sampling technique. The data analysis involved calculating the mean, standard deviation, and Pearson product-moment correlation coefficient. The findings show that respondents had a high degree of financial literacy, and there was a strong positive relationship between financial literacy in both scam awareness and investment behavior. This suggests that increased financial education can lead to better investment decisions and a heightened awareness of potential scams. The study concludes that financial education is crucial in shaping investment behavior and scam awareness among young adults participating in online betting games. Thus, legislators and educators may establish focused financial education initiatives for this group to improve their financial literacy and shield them against fraud.
