In an increasingly multicultural and diverse educational landscape, culturally responsive teaching has become vital in promoting inclusive and meaningful learning. This study explored how Araling Panlipunan teachers integrate local culture, history, and values into classroom instruction as part of culturally responsive teaching. Employing a transcendental phenomenological research design, the researchers focused on capturing the lived experiences of ten (10) purposively selected public secondary school teachers in Misamis Occidental. In-depth, semi-structured interviews served as the primary data collection method, allowing participants to share their perspectives with openness and reflection. Thematic analysis revealed four major themes: the use of localized strategies such as incorporating community history and folklore; the application of interactive and experiential methods like fieldwork and storytelling; the challenges posed by limited resources and institutional support; and the varying levels of student engagement influenced by their attitudes and exposure to local content. The study concludes that while teachers demonstrate initiative and creativity in embedding local identity into their lessons, the lack of materials and institutional backing hinders full implementation. To address these gaps, the study recommends that the Department of Education develop localized teaching guides, offer regular training, and strengthen school-community partnerships. It also suggests that teacher education programs include localization frameworks to better equip future educators for culturally relevant instruction.
