- Abstract
- The success of technology-based instruction in the classroom is largely attributed to teachers' skills and engagement with technologies to meet the goal of improving the teaching-learning process. This study was conducted to determine the level of the teachers' digital skills and the extent of technology-based instructional activities in relation to the learners' self-motivation. There were 241 Grade 6 learner-respondents and 122 Grade 6 teacher-respondents in this study, chosen through stratified random sampling. The study was conducted in Kapatagan East, West, and Central Districts. Researcher-made questionnaires were used in gathering the data, namely: Teachers' Digital Skills Questionnaire, Teachers' Technology-Based Instructional Activities Questionnaire, and the Learners' Self-Motivation Questionnaire. Mean, Standard Deviation, Pearson Product-Moment Correlation Coefficient, and Regression Analysis were used in analyzing the gathered data. Results revealed that the teachers' overall digital skills were very high. The teachers' overall extent of technology-based instructional activities was very high. Generally, the learners had a very high level of self-motivation. The teachers' digital skills influenced the level of the learners' self-motivation. The extent of the teachers' technology-based instructional activities related to the level of the learners' self-motivation. The levels of the teachers' communication media-related skills and the integration of technology-based instructional activities in learning and teaching predicted the learners' self-motivation. The findings highlight the need for skilled teachers to utilize technology in their teaching. Their competence in various digital skills fostered maximum participation and involvement among the learners. Teachers may continuously update themselves with the advancement of technology to sustain the quality of instruction among learners.
