Abstract

When students take an active role in learning, academic growth becomes more meaningful and engaging. This study examined the effectiveness of Student-Led Presentations (SLP) in improving the academic performance of Bachelor of Elementary Education (BEEd) students in a higher education institution in Ozamiz City during the School Year 2024–2025. Using a quantitative pre-experimental one-group pretest-posttest design, eighteen purposively selected students participated in structured student-led presentation activities, collaborative learning, and peer discussions. Researcher-made instruments were used to measure students’ academic performance before and after the intervention, while frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, and paired sample t-test were utilized to analyze the data. The results demonstrated low academic performance and limited classroom engagement prior to the implementation of SLP. However, significant improvements were observed after the intervention in academic performance, communication skills, collaboration, and class participation. Statistical analysis further confirmed a significant difference between the students’ pretest and posttest scores. The study concludes that Student-Led Presentations is an effective learner-centered instructional strategy that enhances engagement and academic achievement among BEEd students. Therefore, educators are encouraged to integrate student-led presentation activities into classroom instruction to promote active learning and improve student performance.
