Abstract

Vaccination is one of the most effective public health interventions in preventing childhood diseases. Despite this, vaccine hesitancy continues to affect immunization rates, often stemming from communication barriers and limited access to services. This study
investigates how healthcare providers' communication strategies and vaccine accessibility influence parental satisfaction towards pediatric vaccination in selected barangays in Ozamiz City. Guided by Peplau's Interpersonal Relations Theory and Pender's Health
Promotion Model (HPM), the study emphasizes the role of nurse-client relationships and health-promoting behaviors. A quantitative, descriptive-correlational design was utilized, and data were collected using a researcher-made questionnaire translated into
Cebuano/Visayan. The tool was distributed to 231 parents of vaccinated children through stratified random sampling, ensuring equal representation across urban and rural barangays. Statistical tools such as mean, standard deviation, and Pearson's r correlation
were used for analysis. Findings revealed that parental satisfaction was significantly influenced by communication strategies of healthcare providers, including verbal clarity, accuracy of information, and promotion of health literacy. Vaccine accessibility was also highly rated, with parents satisfied with the proximity, convenience, and availability of services, reinforcing trust in healthcare systems. Statistical analysis demonstrated a strong
positive correlation between satisfaction and both communication effectiveness and vaccine access. In line with Republic Act No. 10152, the Department of Health could enhance health education, train healthcare providers, and collaborate with schools and
barangays. Parents are encouraged to communicate openly with providers. Future efforts should focus on training, nursing education, and research to improve communication, accessibility, and long-term satisfaction.
