- Abstract
- Nursing education encompasses both practical and theoretical components. The level of self-esteem that a student possesses has a profound influence on nearly all aspects of her actions and behaviors. The significance of academic success for students lies in the fact that it serves as a reflection of their knowledge, abilities, and attitudes gained through their educational experience in universities. This study examined the correlation between anxiety levels, self-esteem, and academic achievement among second-year nursing students. The study utilized a quantitative type of research, specifically the descriptive correlational design. It aimed to provide static pictures of situations and establish relationships between variables. The study used a standardized questionnaire. Frequency and percentage, mean and standard deviation, and Pearson correlation coefficient were used to identify the significance between variables. The study showed a significant relationship between second-year nursing students' level of anxiety, self-esteem, and academic performance. With regards to the significant relationship of each variable, a correlation was found between the level of anxiety and self-esteem and their academic performance. The significant relationship between self-esteem and academic performance highlights that self-esteem enhances and motivates student engagement. Thus, the study recommended that the college provide interventions to manage their anxiety, such as seminars, studying the factors that contribute to anxiety and self-esteem, enhancing mentoring in academics, and conducting symposiums and research about strategies to enhance self-esteem and academic performance.
