Paramedical students face substantial academic and clinical demands that increase stress and risk for burnout, especially amid pandemic-related disruptions to clinical teaching. Resilience may mitigate burnout, yet their relationship in paramedical students remains understudied. This study examined burnout and resilience levels and their association among paramedical students at Misamis University to inform a stress-management program. A descriptive-correlational design was used. A cohort of paramedical students from multiple disciplines completed a modified Maslach Burnout Inventory and an Academic Resilience Scale via an online questionnaire. Descriptive statistics characterized burnout dimensions (emotional exhaustion, depersonalization, reduced personal accomplishment) and resilience domains (perseverance, reflective and adaptive help-seeking, negative affect and emotional response). Correlational analysis tested the relationship between burnout and resilience. Participants exhibited high overall burnout, with emotional exhaustion particularly pronounced. Depersonalization and diminished personal accomplishment were moderate. Overall resilience was generally strong, marked by perseverance and adaptive help-seeking, alongside moderate negative affect. Correlation analysis did not demonstrate a statistically significant relationship between burnout and resilience. Paramedical students demonstrated concurrently elevated burnout and generally robust resilience, suggesting complex and potentially distinct determinants. The lack of a significant association implies resilience alone may not sufficiently buffer burnout in this context, or that measurement and contextual factors affect the observed relationship. Implications include the need for comprehensive stress-management interventions addressing workload, support systems, and adaptive coping skills. Recommendations call for institutional programs promoting time management, emotional regulation, peer support, and accessible counseling, and for longitudinal research to clarify causal pathways and evaluate intervention effectiveness.
