Abstract

The clinical learning environment presents challenges that demand resilience among nursing students, often perceived as highly stressful, affecting both physical and mental well-being, which in turn impacts their related learning experience performance. This study investigated the relationship between clinical learning environment, resilience, and related learning experience performance among nursing students in Ozamiz City. Using C.S. Holling's Resilience Theory and Sister Calista Roy's Adaptation Model, a quantitative-descriptive correlational research design was employed with 348 nursing students surveyed through purposive random sampling. Two validated tools, the Undergraduate Clinical Education Environment Measure (UCEEM) and the Connor-Davidson Resilience Scale (CD-RISC), were used to gather data. The findings revealed very high ratings from nursing students in the clinical learning environment based on their Preparedness, Engagement, and interaction patterns. Findings showed that most nursing students are very resilient, and their related learning experience performance was very satisfactory. The findings showed a significant relationship between the clinical learning environment and Resilience; however, the clinical learning environment and Resilience showed no significant relationship to the related learning experience performance of nursing students. Nursing educators and students could collaborate to create a supportive and positive clinical learning environment. By developing resilience-building programs, providing individualized feedback and ensuring the availability of resources, they can enhance nursing students' perspectives and help them thrive in the demanding environment. Future research could explore additional factors influencing related learning experience performance and how resilience develops over time in response to changes in the clinical learning environment.
