Abstract

Digital literacy is the ability to effectively use digital technology to access, evaluate, and create information is essential for modern policing efficiency and community engagement. This study aimed to systematically assess the digital literacy competencies and training needs of Non-Commissioned Police Officers (NCPOs) of the Philippine National Police (PNP) in Ozamiz City to enhance their operational effectiveness. Employing descriptivecorrelational design, the research collected self-reported data on digital skills and technology usage to identify gaps and inform targeted training programs. The study was conducted in Ozamiz City with 100 NCPOs from local police stations and the Provincial Mobile Force Company as participants. A structured questionnaire utilizing a Likert scale was administered to evaluate proficiency in digital tools such as Body-Worn Cameras, CCTV systems, office software, national police clearance platforms, and communication applications like Zoom and Google Meet. Results revealed a high level of digital literacy in operational tools (BWCs, CCTV, virtual communication platforms) and moderate skills in administrative tools (office software and clearance system), indicating areas for improvement. No significant correlation was found between digital literacy levels and respondents’ rank or area of responsibility. The study concludes that while NCPOs demonstrate strong operational digital skills, targeted training is recommended to standardize administrative digital competencies, thereby further improving police efficiency, transparency, and public trust
