- Abstract
- The maintenance of police officers is a priority issue in keeping an efficient police force, which is why it is critical to investigate how individual and organizational determinants impact their motivation to continue in service. The present study investigates the influence of work-life balance and organizational support on the motivation of police officers in the Philippine National Police (PNP) to continue in service. By utilizing a quantitative research with a descriptive-correlational design, data were collected from 120 randomly selected respondents using questionnaires measuring their work-life balance, organizational support perceived, and motivation. The study took place in four police stations in Lanao del Norte, a province in Northern Mindanao, Philippines. This area was selected because of its increasing urban population and large number of police personnel.. The data were examined using descriptive statistics to establish levels of motivation and satisfaction, while Pearson's r was utilized to examine the relationship among the variables. The findings indicated that very high levels of work-life balance, organizational support, and motivation were reported by police officers, while leadership, training opportunities, recognition, and access to resources were identified as significant drivers of their commitment. Correlation analysis revealed strong positive associations between work-life balance and motivation and organizational support and motivation, but not statistically significant, suggesting that retention is shaped by many interconnected factors. In conclusion, PNP officers' motivation is influenced by the synergistic effects of being engaged in meaningful work, having supportive organizational practices, and the capacity to integrate personal and professional life, highlighting the necessity of a holistic retention approach. The findings suggest that keeping PNP officers should focus on more than just pay. It should also highlight the importance of supportive leadership, career development, enough resources, and work-life balance policies. This offers useful guidance for administrators, policymakers, and human resource managers to create a more motivated and sustainable police force
