This study investigated the stress, coping mechanisms, and resilience among first-year nursing students in a tertiary university in Ozamiz City, Misamis Occidental. Utilizing a quantitative, descriptive correlational research design, the study aimed to explore the relationships between stress, coping strategies, and resilience among 100 purposively sampled first-year nursing students. Data were collected using a researcher-made questionnaire designed to measure stress, coping mechanisms, and resilience. The instruments were validated using Cronbach's alpha and pre-testing, ensuring reliability and validity. Statistical analysis, including average weight value and regression analysis, were employed to derive comprehensive results. The findings reveal that first-year nursing students experience high levels of stress, particularly related to academic and clinical demands. Coping strategies varied, with problem-focused coping being more prevalent than emotion-focused coping. Resilience levels were moderate, indicating that while students possess some capacity to bounce back from stress, there is room for improvement. Significant relationships were found between stress and both coping strategies and resilience, indicating that higher stress levels are associated with specific coping mechanisms and resilience levels. The conclusions and recommendations of the study emphasize the need for the nursing department to develop programs that support stress management, enhance effective coping strategies, and build resilience among first-year nursing students.
