Transitioning to senior high school often increases academic pressures, insecurities, and mental health challenges for students. It is essential to understand how these stressors affect the wellbeing
of senior high school students so we can help mitigate adverse effects like suicidal ideation. Thus, the study draws upon Joiner's Interpersonal-Psychological Theory of Suicidal Behavior (IPTS) and
the Health Belief Model (HBM). Utilizing a quantitative, descriptive correlational research design, the study aimed to determine the relationships between academic stress, insecurities, and suicidal
ideation among 295 purposively sampled senior high school students conducted at a higher institution of learning in Ozamiz City, Misamis Occidental. The study utilized a researcher-made
questionnaire, which they tested first through pilot testing to ensure accuracy and reliability, yielding a high Cronbach's alpha score. The results indicated that higher academic stress is strongly
linked to thoughts of suicide, with financial constraint insecurities emerging as the highest p-value predictor. The findings showed that higher levels of school-related stress and feelings of insecurity
are significant factors leading to suicidal ideation among senior high school students, highlighting the importance of having interventions that focus on mental health. The study's conclusions and recommendations underscore the need to address academic stress and insecurities to reduce suicidal ideation among senior high school students. It recommends implementing comprehensive
mental health programs and stress management workshops to help students feel better mentally. The findings stress the importance of schools building a helpful atmosphere where students can
find the resources and assistance they need to handle their academic and personal challenges.
